Uncle Harry’s Move Applauded

1819 Alexander—In a move designed to meet students’ needs for food, clean clothes and shelter simultaneously, Uncle Harry’s—formerly Central Campus’ grocery store, but now aptly called a launcery mat—moved into a laundry facility, Residence Life and Housing Services Directory Zach Plasons said.

“We know students are busy and they don’t have time to buy food and do their laundry at two different places,” Harry Cubal, owner of Uncle Harry’s, said, “And now they don’t have to.”

Students appreciated Uncle Harry’s new dual function not only for its convenience but also because the food adds delicious aromas to their clothes. Students reported smelling like old meat, Ramen Cup Noodles and yogurt, for at least five days after doing their laundry and grocery shopping at Uncle Harry’s.

RLHS is also looking into adding exercise equipment to Uncle Harry’s to further improve students’ quality of life, Plasons confirmed Friday.
