USA, North America — A heat wave sweeping across the midwest and northeast United States has finally convinced skeptics once and for all that global warming is a real phenomenon and poses danger to all humankind.
“Last winter was freezing,” said one D.C.-area conservative. “There was no way global warming could be true with all that snow on the ground. But now, it’s really really hot out. Obviously, global warming has finally arrived.”
But not everyone agrees, even as many in the northeast fear power outages caused by large air conditioning demands, with temperatures soaring to 100 degrees in many areas. “It seems hot out now, I’ll give you that,” said a New-Yorker braving the heat while waiting in line at a hot-dog stand. “But I have faith that it’s only temporary. Wait till winter, it’ll get cold again, and all this global warming nonsense will go away. You’ll see.”
